Express Care is an on-demand virtual video service available through MyChart for a limited list of conditions. 在这些访问中, an Express Care provider (which includes nurse practitioners) may address a single new condition that you've had for less than two weeks, with symptoms that aren't severe enough for an emergency room (ER) visit. We don't recommend Express Care visits for multiple concerns, for symptoms that have lasted several weeks, or for chronic disease management.

Express Care video visits are available Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, from 8 a.m. 到11点.m. 和1p.m. 到下午4点.m. 目前, only those who are currently located in the state of California may request an Express Care visit.

After answering a few questions in MyChart, you'll be placed in a queue and notified via email, 文本, and/or MyChart mobile app push notification when a provider is ready to see you. If a large number of patients are already in the queue, Express Care may not be available.

Who is eligible to request an Express Care video visit?

You must be an established patient at a UCSF primary care clinic – meaning you've had a visit with a primary care provider within the last three years – and currently living in the state of California. You also must have an active MyChart account. If you are a UCSF patient and do not currently have a MyChart account, visit our MyChart常见问题页面 to learn how to activate your account.

Express Care is currently available for patients seen at the following UCSF primary care clinics:

  • 初级护理 at Laurel Village
  • Family Medicine Center at Lakeshore
  • Pediatric 初级护理 at Laurel Village
  • General Internal Medicine (Post Street and Sutter Street)
  • 初级护理 at China Basin (Berry and Waterfront)

What conditions qualify for an Express Care video visit?

Express Care is intended to address a new urgent but non-life-threatening condition. 这些可能包括:

  • COVID-19治疗

What conditions don't qualify for Express Care?

Express Care is intended to address a single new health concern. If you have multiple health concerns or one you've been managing for a prolonged period, we recommend that you schedule an appointment directly with your care team.

The following issues are not appropriate for Express Care:

  • 胸部疼痛
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • 腹部疼痛
  • Vaginal discharge or bleeding
  • 耳朵疼痛
  • Migraines or other headaches
  • Controlled substance refills
  • Management of a chronic condition (such as high blood pressure, diabetes or chronic kidney disease)
  • Medical form completion

Please note that some of these issues may be medical emergencies that require going to the emergency room.

How do I request an Express Care video visit?

From the MyChart main menu, select "See a provider online now", located in the "Find Care" section. After answering a few questions, you'll be placed in a queue.

一旦你加入队列, MyChart will notify you via email, 文本, and/or MyChart mobile app push notification when a provider is ready to see you. You don't need to join the video visit or stay in MyChart to receive a notification while you wait – but you do need to remain available until the provider can see you.

If your reason for a visit is not one of the conditions eligible for Express Care or it is determined that your concern requires an in-person assessment, you will be redirected to schedule an office visit.

Express Care visits are billed as a standard video visit.
